For the project Culture Mapping we got the assignment to redesign Facebook for users in Brazil. Culture Mapping is about creating awareness and understanding for a culture to help a designer understand why their users make certain choices and have certain behaviours. Understanding your users is a key aspect to make products they will use and love. Just deskresearch isn’t enough to understand your target group. You’ll have to go deeper than that.

Since our target group is hard to reach, because they live in Brazil, we decided to create a Catfish account " Isabella" to merge into our target group. We went as far as having conversations with men, so we could understand the dating aspect on Facebook. This helped us a lot by getting the right information about what our target wanted, we understood them better. Eventually because all of this research we were able to come with a fitting redesign of Facebookusers in Brazil.
